STATEMENT OF INTENT

                                                    Statement of intent

I intent to produce a music video and a website for it. I will look into existing music video and see what are the typical and conventions I need to enforce in my own work but also ones I fell I can challenge. The concept of my music video is trying to convey the idea of funny. 

The genre is dance, therefore there will be lots of funny and silly dancing movement in the video. The song is an Italian song “we no speak Americano”, and I will choose an Asian boy as main character, so there is a contrast between the song and the star. Also there will be different social groups are being represented, boys and girl, plus different races. The black boy will play basketball and the white blonde girl will read books quietly in the library, they will both represent typical stereotype American. Which in a way it is connecting to the song “we no speak Americano”.

There is direct address of my video to let the performer connect to the audiences. Also I will edit the footage carefully so the dance move of the performer will fit the beat.

The video doesn’t have too much deep meaning, it is just for fun. My targeted audience is the younger audience, also the B and B below in NRS social grade. Because I think upper middle class (A) will consider it as a meaningless boring video. But we don’t know, maybe A have seen too many luxury videos and sometimes just want to see some silly one.

American and Italian may be attracted to this video, because it was singing in Italian and saying that we don’t speak American.

The website will advertise the star and the music video with unique and eye catching logo and font which will appear to my audience. The font of the artist’s name will thicker than other font to catch attention. And other fonts are having a kind of LED effects so it will interest the audiences. There are shirts with the artist logo on it to buy on the website aimed at teenage and young adults.

There are social media bar of the artist on the right side, includes Facebook, Instagram and YouTube etc. So it allows interactivity between artist and the audiences, it also helps the record company promote the artist in multiple platforms. For targeting young age audiences, they tend to prefer something ‘cool’, consider about this I will design my website slightly in the style of ‘cool’.There will be two pages for my website one is main page and the other is linked page to present my video.

The background of the website is pink sea dynamic flowing, I think this will interest my target audiences.

There is a universal logo, channel 4 and a Radio 1 logo on the top of the main page of my website to fit the brief. For making my website, I will go on universal music artists’ official website to see the convention that I should follow. The top bar should include five sections which are: home, store, music, news, events and videos.

The main colors of my website is black and purple-pink. I will use social media to produce synergy between my products, this will be useful to the record company to attract the audience because of the support and collaboration they are sharing with each other, enabled products to become more established within the industry, generating more public awareness.
